Go To Every Major Beach
Iconically known for its beautiful coast, Florida is home to many beaches that you should definitely go to this Summer. With Daytona, Cocoa, Jacksonville, and Point Vedra beach on the East coast of Florida, and then Clearwater, Davis Islands, and Sunset beach on the West (along with another dozen options) you’ve got your work cut out for you. If you can hit every major Florida beach in one summer, you’re doing it right.
Visit the Smokin’ Tuna Saloon
After a long day by ocean there is nothing better than enjoying a plate of what lives in it. You can find crab, shrimp, scallops or my personal favorite, fish chili, at Smokin’ Tuna Saloon in Key West.
If you find yourself in Central Florida, Joe’s Crab Shack on International Drive in Orlando is another great place to dive into a Steampot of Queen crab, shrimp, a whole Maine lobster and smoked sausage tossed in a garlic butter bath.
Splash Around at Silver Springs
Located in Ocala, the Silver Springs are a great spot to stay cool in the Florida heat. Long before swimming pools were absolutely everywhere here in Florida, people cooled of by swimming around a natural spring. The great news is that you still can! With dozens of springs located all over the Sunshine state, you can find a good variety crystal clear springs to jump into.
If you’re in the panhandle Jackson Blue Springs is another great alternative, you can snorkel around fish and small caves, or lounge about on the surface in an inner tube.
Go Hiking on the Florida National Scenic Trail
While there are many great hiking trails all throughout Florida, The Florida National Scenic Trail is the largest hiking trail within the state. With it’s enormous 1,300 mile range, this hiking trail starts at the Big Cypress National Preserve and finishes at the Gulf Islands National Seashore at Fort Pickens.
As one of the eleven registered United States National Scenic Trails, the FNST is a great way to see the natural side of Florida and is the prime hiking destination to trek this summer.
Explore Bok Tower Gardens
This national historic landmark is located in Lake Wales, FL. Bok Tower Gardens is one of the most beautifully stunning experiences you can have this summer. With a 250 acre natural garden to explore and it’s famous 205 foot tall Singing Tower with carillon bells, Bok Tower Gardens is a truly romantic destination to visit on a bright summer day. Erected in 1929, the estate also features a 1,500 book library, bird sanctuary, exhibit hall, and museum.
Visit all of the Local Breweries and Wineries near you
Every season of the year has it’s beverages that go with it. And with summer a good beer or fine wine just seem to be the the most appropriate. But instead of just drinking them, you can make it an experience by visiting Florida’s own Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park. Being the largest craft brewery in South Florida with it’s 54,000 square-foot brew warehouse and 3,000 square-foot tap room, you can try all of Funky Buddha’s latest craft offerings. There is no shortage of good craft beer in Florida.
If you are more of a wine person, Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards is the place for you. Located in Clermont, the 127 acre winery features the native varieties of Florida hybrid bunch grapes including Stover, Suwannee, and Blanc Du Bois, all of which you can sample and purchase by the bottle.
Whether you find yourself on the coast sunbathing on the beach and eating some delicious seafood, or decide to hit the theme parks and national landmarks, all of the Floridian experience’s on this list are worth it this summer before you, well, kick the bucket.
